My Dear One
In My Dear One, Words to Heal Trauma, author Jen Lynn Dailey describes in raw and emotional detail, a childhood riddled with violence, alcoholism and abuse. These experiences impacted the rest of her life, shattered her self-esteem and left her always on guard and anxious. Jen went on to get married, only to have that marriage become one of constant emotional abuse and infidelity. Writing was the only safe place that Jen could be herself. A lifetime of trauma is one of isolation and shame. Often Jen wished she had someone who would protect and talk to her in those darkest moments. In poems and short letters to her younger self, the author begins the healing process. The author describes her darkest and scariest memories, and instead of being alone, she writes a message to herself meant to help her heal, cope, and leave toxic circumstances. With messages of unconditional love, support and wisdom, My Dear One, is a collection to help other survivors feel less alone, seen, understood and loved.
